SUCCESSFUL EARLY BOARD MEETING AND REGIONS 9 AND 10 TRAINING CONFERENCE!

The IAWP Board of Directors held their Early Board Meeting in Las Vegas, NV on March 22nd and 23rd.  It was held in conjunction with the first ever Joint Regional Training Conference for IAWP Regions 9 and 10 on March 24th and 25th.  All four days were a huge success!

The IAWP Board of Directors diligently worked their way through a long agenda that included topics ranging from standard business practices of the organization, marketing, and high profile campaigns the organizations is supporting.

IAWP Board Members Julia Jaeger, Stephanie Harding, and Jane Townsley give a presentation on Human Trafficking during the Early Board Meeting.  The IAWP has been invited to participate in a Global Summit in London scheduled for June 2014.  Check out the IAWP Campaigns section at www.iawp.org for more information.

IAWP Region 9 Coordinater Janet Wilson gives the opening remarks to the delegates attending the first ever IAWP Joint Regional Training Conference for Regions 9 and 10.
IAWP President Jane Townsley welcomes the delegates to the training conference in Las Vegas, NV.

The Joint Training Conference included delegates from 44 different agencies, and 8 countries!

IAWP Region Coordinators Julia Jaeger, Fabian Brown, and Joann Springer greeted delegates at the registration table each morning.

IAWP Region 10 Coordinator and IAWP Sergeant at Arms Linda Cunningham worked the IAWP member table recruiting new members for the organization.

I
IAWP Region 7 Co-coordinator Marcie Wacker and Region 10 member Sita Singh sell raffle tickets in support of the IAWP International Scholarship Fund.  The fund raising goal is $10,000 to send two women to the next IAWP training conference.  So far, the IAWP has raised over $3500.  Please check out www.iawp.org to donate!

Volunteers organize the merchandise and raffle table.

Several vendors were present at the Joint Training Conference to keep the delegates busy during their breaks.

The conference wasn't all work.  Here Region 7 member Kris Olson, Region 10 member Sita Singh, and Region 14 Coordinator Dorothy McPhail enjoy incriminating one another at the Mob Museum in downtown Las Vegas.

August 28, 2011
I am just back from Lexington Kentucky and another great conference. I met members of both the Wisconsin Association of Women Police and Iowa Association of Women Police boards. It was great to see them all.
Again ladies I urge you to attend future conferences.
2012 St John's New Foundland
2013 Durban South Africa
2014 Winnipeg, Manitoba
Next year in St Johns will be our 50th annual training conference.

I challenge all region 7 members to bring a into the organization. While the other parts of the world are bringing in new members the number of members in North America is shrinking. The application is on our web page www.iawp.org
Joann

Congratulations

Greetings

Congratulations to Jill Mcrae St Paul Police who will be promoted to commander this coming Tuesday. Jill is a great person and the promotion is well earned.

Also congratulations to St Paul Officer Kyrstel Karels who received SPPD's life saving award on August 18,2011. Kyyatel found a man in full arrest from an apparent overdose and gave the man chest compressions. Again a very deserving person.

update

Greetings to all Region 7 members.
It is just a few short days until the conference in Lexington begins. I will be travelling there on Thursday to attend 2 days of board meetings and confeence.
I know the conference committee has put alot of work in the make the conference successful as we did it last year.
If you are not attending this year I strongly incourage you all to consider either attending St John's in 2012 or South Africa in 2013.
I attended my first conference in 1985 in Anchorage Alaska,as a young deputy and was hooked. I have maintained many friendships since. In fact this years heritage award winner Phyllis Nolan from Ireland and I attend that conference in 1985 as first time attendees.
Stay safe
Joann
